Carolina OER Pilot Program

Currently, stipends are being awarded to promote the use of OERs in classes at UNC. Teachers who change their courses to utilize OERs are eligible. We expect to award eight stipends ($500-$1000) during the 2015-2016 school year.

For more information on how to submit an application for an award, please see the Carolina OER Development Award page ils.unc.edu/oer.

CFE 100+ Grants Program

The CFE 100+ Grants Program features a variety of services designed to support faculty members teaching large course sections who are working to redesign their courses to foster active learning and to improve learning outcomes. 100+ refers to sections with enrollments of one hundred or more students. Some faculty members undertaking redesign efforts create instructional resources that are, or could be, open access materials.

CFE Pro40+ Course Redesign Grants Program

The CFE Pro40+ Course Redesign Grants Program supports professional school faculty members who want to make significant changes to courses or course sections which enroll 40 or more students. Each of the recipients proposes to redesign their course by using active learning principles that are known to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. These proposals are reviewed by a committee of faculty members and CFE staff, and successful applicants receive a modest budget for their projects, benefit from consultations with CFE staff, and join with other recipients as part of a year-long faculty learning community.
