UNC Center for Faculty Excellence
The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) is the campus-wide professional development center at UNC-Chapel Hill, providing faculty members the support they need to excel as teachers, scholars, mentors, and leaders. CFE staff members are available to consult with faculty members about how to effectively integrate open educational resources into their courses.

UNC Scholarly Communications
Anne Gilliland’s role as Scholarly Communications Officer is to design and implement a program that will position the UNC Library to take full advantage of and contribute to the evolution of scholarly publishing practices within the academy. She provides guidance, policy development, and advocacy to faculty, students, and staff on the following issues:
- Copyright and fair use
- Authors’ rights
- Privacy rights
- Open access
- Other information policy issues important to the creation and use of scholarly material
